Major Surgery = Deferral?

I had surgery prior to my app (though I don't remember exactly how long it was I don't think it had been a full year) and from my experience they'll just send you extra paperwork to get filled in from a specialist saying that you are fit enough for life in PC.

I think it depends on the type of surgery. It may limit you from going to certain places. I had surgery while I was actually in the process of being medically cleared for PC and had some screws and a metal plate put into my ankle. They said that I would have to wait a year if I wanted to go to some regions, like Africa, because of the chance of your body rejecting the metal up to a year after surgery and the complications that would cause. But I was ok to go to other areas. Ended up in Panama with no deferral. So yea, I don't think there's a blanket requirment to wait a year, but it can post extra limitations.
