So I got this format for my LJ that has "page summary" on the side, so if there are people I don't talk to often but love reading their LJ because they are a) well-written and b) catch me up on their lives, I can just see at a glance if they've posted. Easy and convenient, right ( Read more... )

It is really hard to think about all the people who they may never get to see again. They left that day thinking it was like every other hurricane they have been through. They would evacuate for a few days, come back, repair what was damaged and move on with life as usual. They probably didn't even get to say good bye to any of their friends. They didn't think they had to. It was just another hurricane. People and relationships are so much more important than things. Even though it is traumatic to someones life out to the curb/entire front yard/street, they are just belongings. Some of them can be replaced, some you didn't need in the first place, and others you will only have a memory of. I admire how wonderfully Pablo and Elizabeth were taking everything. They had such strength. More than I think I could have in the same situation. What really stuck with me is when I was cleaning out a drawer in a night-stand and say a "Footprints" pin from the poem. It said, "When you only saw one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you ( ... )
