I understand your frustration. I've been independent for years and had to file dependent on my first FAFSA even though I was born before 84 and am working on my master's. Why? Because my parents claim me on their taxes! LOL. They really shouldn't and shouldn't have been claiming me for years... but they do. I'm afraid of what they'd say to me if I objected, too! :)

FAFSA is a big huge complication. And is totally annoying. Can't WAIT to do it all over again!

Heh, I'm still claimed as a dependent, and for the most part I am, in terms of car/gas, insurance and living space when not at school. My parents also fill out my FAFSA for me since they have to do it for more than one kid, they just do them all and life = EZ mode for me.

Funny how Uncle Sam's punishment for success stems from trying to help those who made poor choices and who do have it rougher than you. I think the plan backfried. yes, fried.

Yeah, I just finished filling out FAFSA, and, thanks to filling in my parents' information, I won't get ANY federal aid. Urgh!
