Bits and pieces

Happy snowy Saturday everyone! :D It is pretty outside right now with an overcast sky and snowflakes gently falling. Perfect weather to curl up in a blanket, sip hot chocolate and read a good book. Looks like we are in for more winter weather over the next few days. We've had some windy days the past week or two and the jungle gym blew over again ( Read more... )

The fabrics are nice!

Seems like most of my friends are getting snow, well it is that time of year. Here, we still have a few lingering piles on the ground and this morning we are seeing a flake here and there.
*wished* we had a side of beef to pick up from the butchers. But sadly we didn't grow a steer this year for that. Because we thought we could be ready to move last fall/this spring.
I want to make a quilt but decided that this winter it just wasn't going to happen. Maybe next fall I will brainstorm and then work on it in the winter. Your quilt sounds like it will be really nice. I always liked Dresden Plate but decided that for me who doesn't have a ton of quilting experience (I've made lap quilts, one pinwheel/star type quilt with my sister, several 4 block pattern quilts, and then a hanging quilt, and helped mom make some for my brothers) I don't really think that is the design I want to go with. I do know that my quilt will have a lot of blues and probably greens in it.

Haven't heard of the Dresden Plate pattern. What is it like?

What design/pattern did you use? Do you enjoy quilting? I enjoy the sewing part more than the actually hand quilting part. :)

I REALLY like the fabric you chose, and am looking forward to seeing a picture of the finished quilt someday!

I'm working on a quilt this winter as well. The one I made 14? years ago is falling apart, so I think it is about time! Mine is mostly shades of greens and blues with a little dark red & white. We found some cloth with verses printed on it that I am working into the pattern. I'm only working on it in my spare time, so I'll see if I get it done by spring. :-)

Your quilt sounds like it is going to turn out pretty! Will you hand quilt the top when it is done? I hand quilted the last big quilt I made for a friend with a stipled design but I'm thinking about having mine done by machine this time.
