I COMPLETELY agree with everything you've said -- except maybe a little about Remus. I've always been fond of Remus, since the 3rd book, but maybe it's because I've built up a sort of fanonized characterization in my head ;] He's always seemed strong, sweet, but too-willing type of person, which is something I completely identify with -- being too scared of rejection to really stand up for yourself. I was sorry when he died and sorrier that J.K. didn't write a death scene for him, but hey, after Fred's death, I don't think I could have handled it! Anyway, seeing him reunited with James, Lily, and Sirius in the end whilst they gave Harry the pep talk of their lives was pretty awesome :)
I don't know why but Remus has never fascinated me like, say, Sirius or even intrigued me like Snape. Even though with his affliction, he should (and probably is!) have been the most interesting one of them all, I think Rowling just played him wrong in the end. I guess what I am really trying to say here is that I don't think Rowling gave him a fitting end, or spent much energy on him, which is unfair. He was a good character and very helpful in the entire narrative of the books but Rowling just rushed him along, sort of like brushing the dirt under the rug. I am quietly angry about it, but not entirely livid like I was when Sirius kicked it.
Tonks could have been the fun-nest characters but the whole pining-away-for-Lupin thing in HBP discredited her for me. I actually had this personally grudge with him about not being sadder for Sirius! :P But yeah. Done now!
I loved Fred so much and had to drink a half-litre bottle of water to calm myself down after his death. Sniff!
Yeah, I think the main reason Remus intrigued me so much was because there could have been SO much to do with the character (the torment! the emotional-distraughtness!!), but J.K. just - like you said - brushed him under the rug. I guess he was just too emotionally tightly wound, not very relevant to the plot, and there wasn't enough room to go over all of that, though I really wish she had :/ with the Prank that Sirius played on him, and their suspicion of his loyalties, etc.
I'm quite angry about BOTH of their deaths - bah! And not just because I'm a puppyshipper at heart!
Tonks was really fun in OotP, but ugh, you're right, the pining thing in HBP killed her for me. She seemed so strong and brash but a simple rejection - or facade of a rejection - turned her into a simpering, depressed, weaker mess?!
Fred... I had to reread the scene. And I said "oh my god" maybe fifty times before I could continue. HOW DARE SHE.
The peptalk made me happy for the Marauders :) together at last, I guess!
I agree about there being not enough time or space to have allowed Remus to unravel, but death for him feels so unnecessary, you know? And the more I think about it, the more angry I become at Rowling. He actually could've made something out of himself by raising Teddy the right way.
Tonks really was fun in OotP. A little annoying...but fun. But I'm not entirely sorry that Teddy will never learn to say 'wotcher!' from her. *is cruel!*
I had to re-read the scene of Fred's death once again as well. Even though George has always been my favourite twin, I wasn't expecting Fred to die! I was all...OMGOMGOMG.
I liked it that they all appeared in their earlier, happier forms and not in their haggard, wasted ones (Remus & Sirius). That was good!
