So, the good old Uncle Sam is threatening to bomb Pakistan. Probably back to the Stone Age, I’m sure. The country’s been put on Emergency/High Alert/Etc. There will be curfews and such. It’s going to be a war! I’m curious where will it rate beside the War on Iraq/Afghanistan/Vietnam/Japan/Whateveristan. Maybe they should nuke the world, just to be ( Read more... )

war!

On the plus side, our schoolchildren will now be able to find Pakistan on a world map. Except, you know, not.

We'll still be the blimp bwteen Afghanistan and India! Or they might hand us back to India. OR...America just might have a fifty-first, off-shore state. I'm glad I know the Star Spangled Banner by heart.

Plus, assuming you survive, you can rest easy in the knowledge that in 2-4 years we'll have refocused all our attention (read: bombs) on Azerbaijan, or maybe Turkmenistan. Some other place ending in 'stan' would be ideal, really.

How about Iran? They've been really cocky lately. Might as well take them down while they still don't have a nuke. Or nuke them, to let them know what a nuke reeeeally feels like.

I don't know if this will make you feel better or worse, but I can't find a thing about that on the US Google news. That doesn't mean it isn't happening, of course. For what it's worth, I hope nothing happens to you (and the millions of other innocent people too). Another year of this nightmare...it seems like it has been forever. I can't believe this fascist administration continues on unchecked and unchallenged.

The fact of the matter is that the action will take place, sooner or later. It may be primarily in Northern Pakistan, Waziristan and the tribal areas near the Afghanistan borders and it may spread to the entire country. The state of emergency has already been declared in the country as of now.

Thank you for your wishes, every good thought counts at this time because I'm having some really angry thoughts right now. But thank you!

This administration has done more than enough to damage the distinguished standing the country once had. Do they really think enlightened and educated people like to have negative sentiments against the United States? They don't. And they also need to trust that there are enlightened and educated people outside the US as well.

Also, Mr Barack Obama didn't quite impress me when he went on about direct military action in Pakistan in his last Presidential debate. And to think I was cheering him on from all the way over here.

This country has become imperialistic to a degree that frightens me. I think it feels threatened by the world. Paranoia and political handcuffs don't make for a very effective administration.

However, America is horribly lazy. We sit back and allow the people in Washington to run the country. My husband and I watched a documentary on the political atmosphere in the US during the 60s - so many people were actively involved. If there were that many people involved in trying to change things now I feel sure someone would have tried to assassinate someone by now. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing - Bush has our complacency to thank for his continued life and office, but at what expense?
