The theme is based upon magic, fantasy, religion and quantum physics of all things but it's nothing like all of the other books for 'young adults' out there. Philip Pullman has a crisp writing style and he weaves the story of a young girl burdened with a prophecy with such beautiful ease.

We are BBC ADDICTS. Every Saturday night is a PBS marathon of Keeping Up Appearances, As Time Goes By, Fawlty Towers, Black Adder, Monty Python's Flying Circus, etc. (Hence the screen name weekendpbs. :)
