Shit hit the fan. My backup plans fell through. All my shit and my car are in NJ and I still have to get back there to get them. I tried to get back today, but of course, the one day in my entire life when I am five minutes late for a bus instead of 45 minutes early just happens to be the one day in the history of ever that a Megabus leaves at the ( Read more... )

I know that we have never ever met in real life, but if you want a ridiculous alternative, come up to Boston. I have space and I am super accessible to public transit. Only, you know, a 4 hour bus ride away (but there are at least 4 different bus companies that run trips up hourly to Boston from NYC).

Disclosure:
I have a cat, but the house tends to be pretty clean. I live on the third floor of a walk up. Jamaica Plain is amazing.

Ok, well, that's what I get for not reading the entire entry before responding.

Too late!

Regardless, if you are stranded on the east coast, there is always space for weary travelers in my house. And, while neither my or my partner are vegan, there is always food that is accessible to most people.

Thanks. I'll let you know if I find myself in need of a ridiculous alternative. Or, if I just find myself in Boston and then we could just hang out without the "help help i'm desperate" part. :D

just happens to be the one day in the history of ever that a Megabus leaves at the scheduled time

Megabus has (relative to other discount carriers) nice buses, but basically the worst staff ever. Worst. Ever.

45 minute ride but actually takes 2 1/2 hours due to "planned service changes" (true story, happened on Sunday)

Was in NYC last weekend, so that sounds awfully familiar. There are big boards up with pages of details about how the subway is running in a way not remotely like what you'd expect from reading the maps and schedules.

I know you probably didn't want to make the trip back and wanted to deal with drama at my house even less, but you totally could have come back. Please, if something like that happens in the future, consider calling me?

Thanks. It wasn't just that. If I had done that, I would have had to pay for another bus ticket and dealt with the whole waiting-for-the-bus drama a second time...and if y'all thought I was grumpy and antisocial BEFORE I left, you don't even wanna KNOW what kind of shape I was in by the time I finally got my ass on a bus. I didn't really feel able to talk to anyone who didn't feel biologically obligated to put up with me.

*hugs* I hope everything gets better sooner rather than later - but I know it WILL get better so keep hanging in there!
