commenting and my FAQ

I've made this post before, but recently it has become increasingly evident that I need to make it again.

If you go through my entries here, please please please only make one or two comments. See, I use Gmail, which groups all my email comments by the livejournal post they are replies to. So the huge flood of comments I get from a new post are

When it gets past like 4 or 5 pages I usually don't comment... but I'll refrain more now.

Like I said, it's okay on new posts, since I'm getting a lot of comments on that anyway and it's all grouped into one or two "conversations" on gmail. It's when people post individual comments on old entries that it starts to get annoying, since there's nothing to group it with and I get a ton of new emails.

With a new one, I just scroll down to read all the new comments. With old ones, I have to open each and every email and scroll down past the post quote to read the same old "took one thanks" comment. About once in every 20 times I'll get a question, which is why I don't turn off comment emailing for old entries, but the other 19 times get annoying.

I'm babbling. :/

Yeah, every once and a while I do look thru your memories and take some icons but I never comment on those because I figure it's bothersome for the icon maker. Totally get ya :)

Oh okay. Sorry for babbling at you. There seem to be a couple people that don't quite get it so I figured I'd clarify as much as I could. hehe

You could maybe disable LJ from emailing you comments for this journal? ( And still get them for say, Peacefully, since you'd want to know what your friends are saying and all. )

Like I've said repeatedly, I don't want to disable comment emails at all, on any journal/entries in case of people asking questions.

Also, commenting on newer entries (the last three or four posts) is perfectly fine. It's when you start spamming comments on all my icon entries that it gets annoying.

This sounds like a reasonable request. I know that I did the stupid thing of commenting on about four entries when I first discovered your glorious icons. Then I realized ... hey, I get an e-mail notification for every comment so I'm sure she does too. Quite annoying. Best of luck.

I can understand accidently doing it a few times like you did. But when there's "don't post tons of comments" on 2/3 of the entries you're commenting on, and you post 10 comments, it's a bit... aggravating, you know?

Yeah, I totally understand. Maybe huge, sparkling red letters would get the message across. :p

I did a gmail search of your name and it looks like you've posted eight comments including this one, but only two were on the same day, and they were over a period of about two weeks. So you're doing fine. :)

It's when I get 8 comments on 8 entries in one day that it's bad. :)

Just wanted to let you know, I just found this journal, after having seen your art here and there on other people's icon page... I am now planning to wreak havoc by way of snagging as many icons as I can find, because I love so much of what I see! :)
