Just imagine maybe those warm, open, welcoming people robbed and killed people only because they weren't ethnic uzbeks.

I am Russian and I don't dislike Uzbeks. On the contrary I love their hospitality, humour and kindness.

Well, it is very far away from the USA. Maybe I'm getting too old for these trips to the other side of the world because I am still exhausted. :))

Because in Russia they occupy a niche of illegal migrants from Central America to the United States. And people remember how they kicked out the Russians in the 90s. People who were born and lived all their lives in Uzbekistan.

As for Islam-the local authorities are very afraid of Islamic extremists, and therefore tightly control the sphere of religiosity.

This control over religiosity is good. It should play no role in governments. I strongly believe it. Well, I do not care about illegals, as you know. Because the Mexicans and illegals from Central American countries like El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala who come to the USA perform labor that most Americans are too lazy or proud to do themselves. Thus, they contribute to society, infrastructure, construction, etc...and this is all that can be asked of any individual.

Since my childhood I was eager to visit Samarkand and Bukhara. My dreams did not realised ))
But now I am one of those who consider former Soviet Asian republics to be very dangerous. Maybe I am mistaken.

Tell us more about Uzbekistan.

I think that people is negative to Russians due to politics of our goverment. Also people from this countries behave not good in Russia.
But traditionally people from former soviet territories revere and adore foreigners, so they were so good for you.

Do not give up your dream to visit Bukhara and Samarkand. I think you will like it there. :)
