Maybe you could try selling it on craigslist? Even if you didn't get a lot for it, you might get something.

Plus, you can't really throw a computer in the trash, so at least you'd have someone to get rid of it for you. :P

I would at least do a format and reinstall. Unfortunately, even after a format/reinstall, old data can be recoved if someone wants it enough.

Here in Philly, there's a nonprofit that will take old computers and computer parts and use them to teach poor people how to use the computers adn tehn the poor people get to keep a computer. Maybe there's something like that in Providence.
