a cupful of goodbyes and happiness; part i
Flecks of sunlight warmly caressed the brunette’s fair features, causing him to sneeze unceremoniously as he boarded the bus, hastily rubbing his nose to ease the sudden irritable itch. His boots thumped heavily against the floor, as he approached his seat. The usual seat, as always. Right at the back, the second row before the last.
The bus drone on, leaving the passenger to his thoughts as he gazed out of the dusty window; silently observing the gradual setting of the sun and the people enjoying the last bits of the pleasant rays. Yoochun lightly narrowed his eyes, peering at soft pastel colours dotting his vision. Peppy, stuffed jellybeans were running about; their short stubby legs clumsily spreading vibrant colours and joy to the otherwise pallid alabaster scenery. The brunette spotted a pair; chubby cheeks flushed with giddy happiness as they intertwined their fingers together and shuffled their tiny bodies on the wetness of the ground, a beautiful snow angel in the making. They imploringly looked up to the darkening sky, eyes gleaming with awe and wonder, before looking back down, giggling when they realised they’d been staring at each other.
Yoochun noted the bright, sunny curves lingering on their lips, spreading all the way to the crinkles of their eyes. Their smiles were enough to light up the town. Unconsciously, a slow wide smile spread across his lips. Yoochun wondered how their laughter sounded.
Laughter is merely a loud smile.
His fingers itched to reach for his camera, wanting to capture the scene forever. But alas, the bus drove into yet another snow-filled corner, leaving the kaleidoscopic jellybeans behind. Another snapshot of a picture perfect memory captured and safely tucked into the back of Yoochun’s mind.
Memories were precious to the brunette. Something he would cherish and never forget, no matter what. He leaned closer against the window, hot breath fogging the icy glass. A lone finger reached out and carefully drew a small smiley face upon it.
Unbeknownst to the brunette, a pair of warm chocolate orbs had been fondly gazing at his antics, eyes lingering on the upward curves of his lips before gently tracing to the crinkles of the brunette’s eyes.
One could’ve sworn that it was a look of love.
