i am finding i can get up at 7am and get moving but once i eat lunch around noonish i bonk.

it's barely 3o'clock and i am ready to curl up in a ball and call it a day.

any suggestions?

Are you having a good breakfast? Are you having a small snack between breakfast and lunch? Also you're doing different things so maybe you just need some nap time?

this is assuming you're also getting to bed early, which is not always necessary to getting up at 7am...

my suggestion is to try making sure you're getting enough b vitamins. i read somewhere someday that it helps with the afternoon nap urges. and since i started taking a multi-vitamin (with b vitamins), i've noticed a significant difference in that afternoon lull. just my experience : )

also! might it be sugar/caffeine crashing?

B vitamins, good suggestion! It's used in energy drinks for just that reason.

I have the same problem. I wake up early on weekends in order to make it easy for myself to wake up on time on the weekdays. Unfortunately, I do get tired in the afternoon. This happens most frequently for me at the beginning of the school year, but it gets easier for me after a while. Then the summer comes and messes it all up and I have to start again in the fall.

Maybe consider what you eat at lunch? When I have a large meal at lunch, I get tired.

I know you don't like snacking, but I find I don't get as tired when I spread my food across the whole day. Usually I eat when I wake up, around 10, noon, around 3, 5, and 8.

No carbs at lunch.

Was a productivity revelation for me when I did a brief but stringent low-carb crash a few months ago, and I still adhere to it on days where I know I need to have my best game on all day.

I'm with D on this one. If I have carbs in my breakfast or my lunch, I get a major afternoon slump. If I stick to protein for breakfast (and maybe a small piece of high fiber, low carb bread/toast) and stick to protein and veggies through lunch, I am much more brain-functional into the evening.

YMMV of course =]

Thirded!

Also, snacks and B vitamins: super-helpful.

Eat less, but more often. I used to get so tired after lunch that I felt like I had narcolepsy. Your mileage may vary.
