Suburbs

It's funny. I landed in L.A. earlier tonight, and unexpectedly--it was night and my mom was driving me from the airport back to our house in the suburb of Thousand Oaks; I saw two lines of orange road studs set against a road I used to drive every day on the way to school and later to work, and unexpectedly--oh man, I felt my heart seize with love ( Read more... )

I think you would totally get a kick out of landscape analysis.

Um! Also this book called Outside Lies Magic which is actually kind of awesome and sort of dreamy and explains power lines and trains and the post office and stuff!

It's weird, I used to be bored by things-that-are-not-people but lately I've come to be kind of obsessed with, you know, this streetcar shelter or that intersection. I think I'm turning into one of those... you know. Dippy artists.

I too love thousand oaks. I used to live in that one neighborood...I forget the name. It was old and the street I lived on was "Camino Graciosa." I remember riding my bike to Mrs. Guch's and there was a little comic book/card shop down there for a little while.

Beautiful city though. I loved across the street from the mall for awhile too, in those old aparments..."The Villa" or something. I wish I could remember. They were dark brown on the outside.

Whoa, you too? It's so weird--I keep running into comics people who are from the Thousand Oaks area. JFish is from there too, and so is Anthony Wu.

I don't know how anyone can grow up in SoCal and NOT make cartoons.

...funnier if the phrase to "make cartoons", as it is used
at previous should bear that meaning which implies landing
onesself a role as a character in an animated or panel-art
feature. Hi Angie. Very sorry. Pop's a Nazi. Would like to
talk together again sometime. Could have used a bit better
help, and true open mindedness, but not a drunk for a hally.
Wishing everybody back home (Portland) well, Austen also,
but goddamn.
