Haha, not so much the overall looks, but I like the focus on the details like the wrist bones and knees and shoulders--there's a very physical sort of awareness of the desirability of the male body. Just to grab a random Jaryuu Dokuro page:

They're supposed to be Japanese, at least in this particular case (which would probably also explain the lack of beards)? I think a lot of that gets lost in how stylized it is--people just assume it's another part of the convention. What's interesting about anime/manga faces in profile is that they're based on Asian profiles, as far as I can tell. The reason the line sweeps down smoothly from the brow to the nose tip in profile is because Asian noses tend to have a flat radix and flat bridge, but it's become accepted as a manga drawing convention.

Though I don't know why they have no nipples hahaha! That has always baffled me.
