1-- the quote from the creative director of Elle is pretty dumb, It's not like someone can't be aware of things that happen before their time.

And you might not agree, but dude is also the creative director of Elle which kind of invalidates his opinion for me anyway. There's that rap quote I say lots "dont expect respect from slaves and hoes"

3-- I really like what you've been doing with WANGIE, but there's no reason you can't just put whatever you're in the mood to draw up there.

Thanks dude! I feel a bit better now, haha--I was just anxious for no reason, probably. Got to remember that Elle is an irrelevant magazine, and to trust my own judgment anyhow.

I'll be okay with WANGIE--I figure if I can hold off on a hiatus/downsizing until my contract comes, I'll have accomplished a respectable amount! Or possibly I just need to learn some discipline. :)

I'll try to finish Tintin in a couple weeks once I'm back on my feet, and if I can't, I'll just scan what I have and show it as a WIP. :)

Tavi's a smart cookie! I actually don't care for her style in particular, but I was super impressed by one of her recent posts about Terry Richardson where she shows more maturity than women three times her age.

A lot of the fashion editors were definitely really jealous and resentful of the attention Tavi got--one editor tweeted that she couldn't see the show because she was sitting behind Tavi and her big stupid hat, or something like that. So immature. >:(

I was never really a fan of critics. They appear to be observers of a sport who would rather sit on the sidelines and critique than to get involved themselves. And what's worse is that they want to be paid for it. I personally don't like Tavi's style, but that's my opinion and I don't care to push it on the masses.

I put a lot of trust in critics but they keep ruining it. >:( I guess I trust them to be, like, educated and perceptive viewers--sort of the "ideal" readers you'd want, who can look at your work and pick out your techniques, your motifs, etc. But too often they are incredibly disappointing!

For a really long time now I've only really cared about what my teachers say about my artwork. My peers were important, but I would only consider someone my peer if they took an art class with me and knew my atheistic fairly decently. I learned a long time back to block out all the other noise.

Oh yes, one more person who's done orange lips is a member of Specktra called SQUALID. I love her stuff. She's from Sweden, so her blog is primarily in Swedish, but she does give English translations.
