DAY ONE: DAY PHASE

DAY ONE
Day Phase.

GENERAL REMINDERS: The day phase (12 hours in game) will last 24 48 hours IRL. Votes are public, but are not final and can be changed continually until time runs out. All canon powers are stripped.

SETTING: A standard mansion, though it looks more like a hospital inside (or a building reminiscent of an Orwellian, Big Brother, sci-fi universe). The floor tiles are white. The wallpaper is white. The furniture is either made of glass or is black in color. Each room, including bedrooms and bathrooms, sport a large plasma TV screen inserted into the wall. Every room is soundproofed. Windows are few and far between. Outside there is a spacious yard with a well-tended garden, as well as a large maze with tall, well-trimmed hedges as the walls.

The house has every comfort and commodity that your may need to eat, sleep, prosper, enjoy, and kill. The only thing the house lacks is a manner of escape.

THE REASON: Your character has been invited--through force, through snail-mail, through word of mouth--to a party. The promise of important meetings with the famous, influential, and important arises--and it seems that the hosts have made a particular show of making sure you could come.

The first hour of the party proceeds smoothly, with general small talk, dancing, and food and drink. Due to a mixture of eavesdropping and conversation, your character automatically knows the general reputations of all the other guests. "General reputation" may or may not include names, depending on your personal choice.

TODAY: The TV screens in each room flicker on. A shadowy face, feminine in nature, appears on it against a grey background. Outside, the sound of screeching speakers resonates throughout the yard. There is no possible way you cannot hear this woman's message.

The voice is polite, proper, and somewhat robotic. She speaks.

"Greetings, our honored and adored guests! We are very glad that you could make it to tonight's party. It will surely be a lot of fun, we assure you.

My name is Maria. I am not human, as you may have been able to tell. But rather, I am a security system that takes charge in situations like these--for unfortunately he have come across a MINOR SNAG in the celebrations, as we have found that there is scum among you."

The screen flashes and switches to a scene. A man and woman--who you recognize to be the hosts of the party--are seen dead. Together, in a bathtub, swimming in their own blood.

"And they seem to have murdered our gracious party hosts, and several of our other guests."

The screen flashes over to various camera angles of the dead.

"These cheating, lying bastards will stop at no ends-to-end each and every one not of their kind. Isn't that terrible? We think it is. Our own personal Cosa Nostra, if you will. How terrible. So we have turned on our security shutdown system, thus closing off all exits to the house and preventing the use of abnormal powers in order to help stop the scum. We apologize for any inconveniences.

In apology to the innocent, we have also calculated the best approach to this problem. Allow us to inform you that we will have a vote. You all, as a whole, must vote out the person you believe most suspicious--and most likely to be in cahoots with these TERRIBLE MONSTERS. Majority rules--after all. Is democracy not a key feature of civilization? Once you inform us of the result of your votes, you are free to dispatch of the scum yourselves. Or, of course, if you are all too squeamish, simply place the victim of the vote into the east wing, lock him in, and we will put to use our variety of resources in order to honor your wishes. But remember, all of us as a whole can only dispose of one man or woman a day--for we cannot be barging in too recklessly, can we?

In order to help protect yourselves, we have planted Doctors that can protect one man at a time and Detectives who can reveal people's true identities through investigation. Voting is public. All voting and public discussion will take place in the lobby and you will be directed there in a moment. All necessary locations are marked on electronic map screens that are scattered throughout the house.

You can, of course, vote not to vote. But with a continuation of that strategy, you will likely all be killed."

There is a pause.

"We are afraid that we cannot let any of you go until the scum is eliminated. Be safe! Vote on."

The screen flickers off.

After the message airs, all survivors make their way to the lobby, either out of fear for their own lives, the lives of others, or out of morbid curiosity.
