i don't care if people think it's lazy or pretentious or what. if writing without caps on the internet is good enough for my old english professor, it's good enough for me. :D

I care less about capital letters than I do about grammar and spelling. Bad grammar or constant spelling errors or chat speak are more jarring than just missing capital letters, I find.

Yeah, I find I give a lot more leeway these days to people who use certain standards intentionally. I tend not to forgive spelling, but then again, I've started looking at grammar from a linguistic standpoint rather than the traditional school. xD

i think of the internet as being the same as real life in terms of grammar. you don't speak the same way to your friends that you would to your superiors, so unless you are writing an important document, resume, or professional e-mail then there's no point in capitalising or even using grammar at all. sure super simplifying and "dumbing down" of the language can be annoying but there are also people who type perfectly with capitals and periods so to each their own.

no it's not pretentious at all.

i wouldn't dare post in all-lowercase on the BBS, though. different crowds, different post styles...

i personally am incredibly lazy and tend to reply comments in lowercase, but use caps in my entries? idk
