Why is society so obsessed with image? People are automatically stereotyped based solely on their looks. I walk down the street and people view me as some militant negress because i wear my hair in twists. What's wrong with a Black woman who chooses to wear her hair naturally? I prefer strong, healthy locks rather than rockin some burned out,

One of my focuses in my Ameican Studies and Latin American Studies majors is on race and Blackness in America. It's obvious that race exists, at the very least as a biological phenotype...merely the way we look... and it's true that we're striving to erase all other connotations. But it still amazes me how very alive those ignorant and negative perceptions are.
It makes me feel really good to know that you stand up for what you believe in.
