Surely if you are going to join the Garda then not only should you have your eyes fixed but also have them put in the back of your head!
Also if you are still thinking about writing then you will have more free time in the Garda and at least get some kind of experience to write from.

i am keeping my options open for the mo but it is slowly looking more like becoming a teacher
