It is impossible to pleasantly combine basic economic principle with a murder-mystery novel. i.e., you absolutely can not describe anything and everything in terms of economics and expect to have birthed an enjoyable piece of literature.

And it takes place in Harvard, so all of the characters are senior professors and spend their days being hoity-toity and scholarly all within the plot of a corny murder mystery novel.
Definitely not Dianetics.

...I have to read French World War 1 literature. It's painful because there are so many characters that I can't keep them straight. But at least it's somewhat poetic.
