It is my deepest regret that during the cold war neither side started dropping bombs. The more I see of the human race the more I wish we would end it. Honestly? I think if we weren't capable of blowing this planet to hell none of us would be capable of saving it. Gaiman and Pratchett got it right, i think, when they wrote that ultimate good and ultimate evil just made ultimate potential.

I think that's the force that led John Nobel to create the prize, after a bomb made with his creation killed half a dozen people in a riot, including a mother and child.

Overall ignorance reigns far more than no-shit evil does. Of course, there's nothing an evil empire can accomplish that a half-dozen bungling idiots in the right place can't do just as hideously.

... there's a point around here somewhere.

Man Dan, I won't lie. Your post is probably exactly what my brain thinks of a lot of the time. I usually won't mention it, because it becomes a heated topic and I'm often told I'm wrong. Also, I usually am prompted to think of it over much smaller, much less extreme reasons.

But yes, I sometimes agree. More than sometimes, I often agree.
