Oh cool, Cadfael fanfiction! I'm gonna post a link to shrewsburymonk, if you don't mind. Here's hoping you'll finish the other pieces, too. :)

I don't mind at all! The fic was mostly me being completely self-indulgent, hence the terrible schmoop and Hugh-suffering.
I'm working on the other fics, and actually another longer one for the summersteam challenge involving Hugh and Olivier, although it looks like that one is going to be in the works a while!
Thank you for commenting!

Ooh! Hugh and Olivier? Dare I hope it's going to be slash? :) Cause Hugh/Olivier is like my Cadfael slash OTP, and there is absolutely no fic about them anywhere on the web. (Well, 'cept that one piece I wrote, but it's more UST than slash anyway.)

So, erm, what I meant to say... linkplz? ;)

I can't believe I haven't commented on this one yet!!!
I guess I've been tied up sorting my journal out and writng exams.

This fic makes me feel alll warm and fuzzy, poor Hugh, Cadfael knows just what our under-sheriff needs LOL.
(I must have read this about 20 times before I got round to commenting. Sorry, that was bad of me.)
I really love your writing style!

I'm going to admit that I secretly both love this fic and am slightly embarassed that I wrote it! I keep meaning to revise it actually because since I wrote it I've been to Shrewsbury and learnt a bit more about the Castle and the Abbey, and now I notice some innaccuracies in it!

But it's shameless H/C, it doesn't need to be perfect, right? :D

I hope your exams went ok! Have you got the summer ahead of you now? (free for writing, I hope :D)

To be honest I didn't really see the innaccuracies because I was concetrating on the action even though I know Cadfael quite well, though I'm not an expert.

And I like shameless H/C there's nothing wrong wih giving our characters a little love.
I call for all writers to indulge their H/C monsters once in a while. It'll make everyone happier (everyone being mainly me LOL)

Whoever wrote this it was not Ellis Peters, nor were they a historian! They did not have chiming clocks in the 12th century - the Monks used water clocks

I don't think Cadfael and Hugh were an item either - honestly, the cheek of it!

Thank you for your comment, pointing out the detail about the clocks. It's something I hadn't thought of, and I'm glad of chances to improve my writing.

Oh for goodness' sakes. The writer is obviously not Ellis Peters, not least because this story was put online in 2007, some years after Ellis Peters' death. I'm also pretty certain Edith Pargeter never used the pseudonym 'pearbean'; it would look a little funny on the shelf in Waterstones ( ... )

Ah poor Hugh, good job he's got Cadfael to look after him ;)

(I know it's been a couple of years since you posted this, but I've only just found it - actually I've only just found the happy world of Cadfael fanfic :0 )

Thank you so much! This isn't one of my better efforts but it completely hit what I was aiming for when I wrote it, pure h/c schmoop (sometimes it's just got to be done).

Welcome to cadfaelfic fandom! I'm not hugely involved, but there's a Cadfael recs list about I believe at shrewsburymonk
