No Go

Well I came home tonight to find a letter from Rutgers informing me that I did not get the job.  I didn't have an interview so I figured as much.  It was interesting to note however that the letter said who did get the job-a friend and colleague from BU.  I hadn't known she was applying and she totally deserves it so I'm glad for her and fully ( Read more... )

Weird. I've never seen / heard of the dear john letter mentioning the winner.

I so know what you mean. I found it very odd. Basically the letter read something like:

Dear Richard,
we are writing to inform you that we have hired So and So for the position of blah-blah. So and So will be joining us from the University of Wyoming and has held positions here and here etc. We had a lot of great applicants but unfortunately can only hire one person etc.

Definitely not the normal rejection letter and in an odd way I'm glad of it. If I'm in need of a job at least I'm ahead of most for this opening! LOL
