We have a large yard (about a half of an acre) with several large trees. The dogs love to play 'tag', though Lily is always 'it' and chases Dezzy around the trees and all over the place.
There are two clumps of bushes near the patio that seem to be Dezzy's home ground (she stands on one side, Lily on the other waiting for her to emerge from either side) and then they're Off! They run around the yard like maniacs, Lily trying to bring Dezzy down (she's really using her herding instinct with a vengeance)and Dezzy zig-zagging everywhere.
If Lily stops chasing Dezzy, she'll lower her front end, rear end up in the air, wiggling in a play-bow and bark until Lily chases her again. They never seem to tire of playing chase and unfortunately, I didn't realize how muddy our backyard was when I let them out the other day. But they did have a good time and kept asking to go back out all day.
I recognise the 'You're going to bath me, aren't you?' facial expressions from my semi-long-haired cat Kisuke, who not only hunts in ditches but has an affectionate relationship with the horses over the road and regularly comes in covered in FYM.
