Bird's the word

oh yes, i went there.  alright, kids, brace yourself for another gushfest about a band everybody else has probably already finished gushing over from the d.

so tonight i went to see Andrew Bird at the suggestion of Peter Dan--whose musical taste has only failed me once.  (psa:  do not see Camper Van Beethoven).  the show was at the Fine Line and ( Read more... )

My adorable friend, leeann, offered me a free ticket to this show. I turned it down because it was too cold to do anything(and I had a midterm the next day).

andrew bird is fucking incredible. and i don't just say that because my appearance was compared to his once.

i'm going to commit ritual suicide because i didn't even know this show was happening.

another reason to find every band i'd ever want to see and friend them on myspace

hey...you do look a bit like Andrew Bird, come to think of it. way to go...or something.

that sucks. i would've invited you to the show, had i known we had a potential suicide on our hands (or had i known you like Andrew Bird).

he is playing in Duluth tonight. if you leave now, you may be able to catch a few songs.

I actually really like Haley Bonar, she's a nice girl too. But definitely not something to rouse your spirit up from it's general everyday malaise. More something to woo it back to sleep.

Andrew Bird is a cool cool man. I always loved Squirrel Nut Zippers, in fact that's one of the few times that I ever had to rush out to the local CD emporium and special order an album when I saw the video on MTV. Squirrel Nut Zippers - "HOT"
His solo stuff wif "Bowl of Fire" I think is usually just as enjoyable. There are all these folks in the world who have so much talent that you just have to stand back and look at them like a piece of art all by themselves. It makes me happy and proud to say that most of my friends are that way.

i love haley bonar, but not live really. i find her akward, and her music is hard to listen to live. i've actually only seen her once live, in duluth before a mason jennings concert where all the drunk college boys booed at her. but i bought her cd regardless, and it is one of my favorites.

as for andrew bird. amazing. the guy who played before him, and with him, dosh (?) was really cool.

at one point, i cried while he was playing. i haven't seen a show in awhile, and the live music, and the fact i've had a lot of cool little things happen to me, just played with my emotions and made me all so happy again probably did it for me.

it was fantastic.

ps... sorry to hear about your snoozefest of a meeting. whittier cluster spent the afternoon at the mia with 75 4th and 5th graders. which was a lot of fun actually.

anyways, i love you.

yeah. i could see myself listening to Haley Bonar in the morning while i was making waffles from scratch or while i was reading a book just before bed, but as far as concert material goes, it was pretty not that cool. i definitely wouldn't boo her though. sad. maybe i'll have to give her music another shot in a non-concert setting ( ... )
