Brand.
Common, useful tools, they were, necessary devices for protection, crafted to reflect the maker’s style.
William Turner was surpassing his skills as a blacksmith, subtle ability and natural artistic flair growing with each piece he created. He could clearly see the white hot mass and how to achieve the best fit in a particular hand. His imagination wed man to metal.
Beauty and grace he valued, neglecting to measure what destruction might also be wrought from the swords he formed.
Would he have done differently had he known he was making the sword would take his life?
