We are painfully aware that it's not just Canada, but the whole world watchng. It becomes tiresome, trying to explain to foreign friends what the hell is going on around here. Too often, we have no idea.
You're probably too young to remember, but this does smack of the years of JFK. The country needed a beacon and a guiding hand then. We're in desperate need of one now. If you believe in divine intervention, I think the powers that be just intervened, and sent this country what we so desperately needed.
Thanks for the well-wishes. We need all the help we can get.
I suppose it would get wearing, having to explain all the time. Never did think of that. (Hah, truth be told, wasn't expecting anyone to comment.)
I am too young to remember, but I have heard about JFK. ^^ And I certainly hope that you are right - that the powers that be have 'sent help'. Again, best of luck.
*g* Thanks. Well, in light of that (I don't know much about JFK and the Kennedys and how they're perceived over a broad spectrum... Gods, I read too much. x.x) I can certainly say that I hope Obama is more JFK than Trudeau! ^_^
January 26 will be an entertaining day indeed. I'm actually looking forward to it kind of. xD It's like a soap opera. What will the liberals do? Will there be a fight between Dion and Harper? Who will come out on top? What about the NDP? The Bloc? Will the love triangle of bloc/NDP/Liberal continue or will the Bloc get jealous and try and steal one away? Will Michell Jean do anything more or will she just watch from the sidelines like normal? To see the drama unfold, tune in this upcoming Monday! *dun, dun, dun*
By the way, Dion has perfect facial expressions for a soap opera.
You are so right!! It is like a soap opera... what a comparison to make. The US gets a blockbuster drama, we get a cheesy soap opera. ;PPP *giggles again* Best description I've read yet about what's coming up. And yes, Dion does. Although you are a leetle bit out of touch - Ignatieff is the Liberal leader, not Dion anymore. ^^
I thought they weren't going to switch till March for some reason. Meh, university, it makes you oblivious to the real world xD *though I am sure some would argue otherwise* I am stuck in my U of T bubble.
the US does get a blockbuster drama, like srsly. ^.^
You've got a fucking good point there. Never thought of it that way.
Frankly I'm a little terrified of what's going to happen if he screws up. I would not consider America a super power. We're crumbling, and dying. And that's a scary thought because everyone's economy relies on ours.
And John Stewart said it best. You're conservative party is the equivalent to "Gay Nadar fans for World Peace" party. *snickers*
Oh, and since you're all French (well...Quebec is anyways...) and I know you loooove history. Take a peak at the French Revolution and then America's current situation. It's a bit scary.
Orly? I think I shall. Sounds fascinating (I love historical-modern ... metaphors? analogies? something like that, but in the historical-ey sense).
Hah, and continuing about our lame-o politics - I had to do some research on the building of the Canadian Pacific Railroad for a paper, and ran into a lot of early Canadian politics. Sadly, it was WAY more interesting than todays. (Sir John A MacDonald is the bomb. End of story. Look him up - he's pretty entertaining).
Screwing up... now that would be bad... I just try not to think about that part. xP Perhaps you might not consider America a superpower but it sure as hell is the closest thing to one the world has right now - biggest nuclear arsenal, big military, BIG economy (you said it yourself), and a culture that is slowly (well... perhaps rapidly) pervading most parts of the world, one way or another.
xDD Canadian politics is so lame. We actually had an election around the time that you guys were doing the candidates for the presidency stuff (don't know what you call it), and there were editorial cartoons making fun of the fact that more people were watching the US stuff than our stuff. ^^ But we might actually get a little excitement (vaguely) on the 26th....
(Not really sure what 'Nadar' is, I'm afraid... and I'm not a big fan of Jon Stewart and that bunch, either).

You don't say. xD Loads of people in my high school skipped class to watch the inaugeration ceremony. I think I mentioned that.
