Moving on up....

So today I was offered a new job position in Washington DC. The pay would be a little more than I'm currently making. The job would be something that I would probably enjoy, although I honestly enjoy my job right now ( Read more... )

it depends on how much more this new position offers in terms of advancement. What is the likelihood of being able to sell your place because as you mentioned the market is slow.

Another question is would the change benefit you and how would it?

Those are all the questions that I'm struggling with Forrest. I'm sure that I'll have some answers come weekends end...

And what were the decisions, or some of the revelations?

I've decided that I'm happy right now and although DC would be a fun place to live, I will have other opportunities in the future which will be better both financially and career-wise. So I'm buying corn seed for this coming summer and plan on living the midwest life for a while more. =)

You probably already have a gut feeling of what you should do, but also ask yourself at the moment which option would you regret?

I expect Des Moines offers comfort, but if you were to stay would you still be in the same place life-wise in a year from now? Also, how often have you had an opportunity to try something new come about? What are your feelings about your lifestyle, and are you looking for a change?

Stuff like money and housing will sort itself out and really shouldn't act as a barrier, really look at if you want to leap into something new, or keep to the tried and true.

You make some good points Toky. It seems like before Des Moines I've had a bad case of wanderlust...every couple of years I'd move. Change doesn't scare me as much as stability it seems. Am I running to something, or running away from something else? Arg!!

Well, I guess the question is: How will you feel in 2-5 years with each decision? Better in DC or DM?

We had a good time when you were here.

I personally could not live and work in DC.

But there are so many luscious men in DC, including andrewshead and itsabouttimedc.

Those boys are fun Marvy. =) I like the idea of a big city...what worries me is having to give up on the advantages of a smaller city. I can get to and from work in 10 minutes here. In DC that would most likely change drastically.

Well, if you decide on DC... you just let me know. I'll pack the boyz up and move my little butt back to the east coast. Just have my room all ready for me, when I get there! :P

I will Peanut. I'm not sure how well the boyz and Blanche will cohabitate though. ;)
