I am currently compiling a newer version of MythTV, any MySQL experts out there?

reason I ask for a MySQL expert is a goofy problem I've been having a newer MythTV may or may not solve. The program works fine. Occasionally however it "loses" it's database connection and stops doing things automatically. I can log into the program and watch recorded shows, which I can't do without the backend running, but when I notice it

Possible. I've recompiled MythTV and completely reinstalled MySQL, it used to work before I messed with MySQL about a month ago. If this doesn't fix it I guess I'll delete the MythTV database and start over, no big I guess.
