I think when it comes to this election, as important as selecting a presidential candidate is, so is spending a lot of time focusing on our state's propositions. I've been trying really, really hard to fully read and understand each one in time for November 4 ( Read more... )

I'm a Christian, and I will sure as hell be voting no on this. If you want to talk about what is marring the name of marriage, let's talk about brokenness and divorce within the heterosexual marriages that already exist. I personally think government aside, a Christian can feel whole-heartedly committed to their faith and whole-heartedly committed to the fact that homosexuals have equal value and right as the rest of us. I know many devout Christian homosexuals who embrace their God and embrace their attraction to the same sex because first: it was what they were born with and second: Christ is all about love, or He is supposed to be, right ( ... )

i'll vote no because its a silly thing to be overturned (by a buncha lowlife neocons) and in respect to my queer friends/roommates/coworkers, most of which are pro-gay marriage.

but here's a different arguement against it: http://www.gayshamesf.org/endmarriage.html

i'm really glad to see other Christians that are voting "no" on prop 8. i haven't really come across many and it's painful to have to keep my mouth shut most of the time when at church or hanging out with "christian" friends. but it really just doesn't make sense to me. Christian means Christ-follower. Christ, above all else, has asked us to love. I just don't think it's right to impose my personal and religious beliefs on the rest of the world. though Christian's may believe that same-sex marriage is wrong, people have everything right to be wrong...right? it's not my place to tell people who they can and can't marry.
