One thing really stunning about this place is its "recycling service." If you walk around Del Playa Dr. on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday morning, you'll see whole families (pretty much latinos) walking around collecting bottles from the street, so that they can be taken and redeemed for cash at the recycling center.
