man your right a band really does suck just because the masses start to like them. OH NO ITS ON MTV THEY SOLD OUT. i think that is the goal of everysingle band. instead of saying how MTV ruins music, you should embrace them because they are sharing the music you love with people who would normally not listen to it.

you completely misunderstood what i was saying...i dont think any of those bands "sold out". its just that they're too good for mtv. when a station can play something as horrible as usher f/ lil jon and then the very next video is something amazing like modest mouse, thats when i think "wtf?". i never said any of them sold out...nor do i think it. its just that corporate stations like MTV dont realize there is good music out there...they're starting to play it.

and i dont want the people who normally dont listen to it to...because thats when places like HOT TOPIC start carrying shirts that say modest mouse on them...its the people that watch mtv and dont understand is what i'm really bitching at. the music is better when there ARENT any noobs that listen to them and say "oh man, is this band new? modest mouse...are they new? man thats a good first cd" etc, etc.

Man i know...I am Ayla btw (: Modest Mouse has been around since like 98 and people that are like "yeah...woo modest mouse is my fave band!" when they just heard of them through mtv buzzworthy arent worthy.

You are missing the point. No its not good especially when its MTV. All the mtv noobasuars are going to like the band just because they heard them on Mtv and because everyone else likes them. So basically, they can't find good music themselves, it has to be shown to them on tv and then they will buy their album.

See it would be a good thing if they were discovering them on their own. But this crap is just stupid.
