I just got back from Justin's San Jose show. I really don't have anything new to say about it, given that it was the same show as last time and I've watched multiple clips on YouTube along with the HBO special. However, as expected, it was a fantastic show, and it certainly reaffirmed (to me) just how great of a performer he is ( Read more... )

I almost tried to get tickets at the last minute, but I eventually decided it wasn't worth it (for me) since I hate in the round shows and I did see the show back in January. The HBO show will have to satisfy my concert cravings, 'cause it's not like I'm going to head to New Zealand to catch him.

I'm seeing Justin get a lot of backlash from some comment he made at the SJ show about postponing the two bay area shows because of a hangover...I'm assuming that he said it sarcastically, but since I wasn't there I don't really know. I can't imagine that if it were true he'd be telling an arena full of people that though. Vocal strain seems much more likely to me since he has been touring for more than a year now, and didn't he have surgery on his throat 2 years ago?

As far as I can tell, some blogger (aka Perez) took the quote out of context and ran with it. Really though, Justin was joking around. He did say that, but he was alluding to the fact that had to cancel due to various reasons (most likely the vocal strain/sinus stuff), and then he threw in the hangover stuff and said that was part of it. Based on his tone, he was just trying to be funny about it (like "I was hungover ...well ok that was part of it") and when he said he was hungover, people started cheering. I mean, of course they cheer for everything he says, but of course a crazy crowd full of slightly intoxicated women are going to get a rise out of Justin mentioning a hangover. He wasn't being too serious. :)

I believed that he was ill and didn't figure he was being too serious, if for no other reason than even if he actually did postpone two shows because he was hungover, I don't see him ever admitting that. I really think he would make up some excuse that would pacify the fans before he would tell an arena full of people that paid obscene amounts of money to see him that he postponed their show because he was hungover.
