Eustace had woken up feeling dirty. Jill smiled as she saw the back of his head, and stepped around the chair to sit cross-legged on the carpet. "Oi, Scrubb. What're you reading?" She was still getting adjusted here, and although her skirt was more then a little bit short she'd been able to find clothes that weren't too awful.

He looked up with his mouth set in a moue of distaste. "Good morning," he said in a bored tone. "It's a book on plant life of northern Africa. Plants and insects, really, but mostly plants." And with that he turned his face down to the page again, all but shutting her out.

Her brow wrinkled as she leaned up and tugged the book down. "Eustace? Are you cross with me?" She blinked, realising what he was wearing. It wasn't like her when the skirt was all she could find- no, he'd put that on on purpose.

"... Why're you wearing a tie?! We're on a bloody island!"

"I know we're on a bloody island," he said scornfully, looking her up and down with a glance that mirrored his tone. "That's no reason not to act like civilised people if we have the chance to." He didn't even answer the question of crossness. He didn't feel cross; in fact he didn't feel much of anything at all.
