Can't blame the Internet. How would you explain 80s Valley Girls?
Actually, maybe it's a weird byproduct of Information Entropy... as data is organized and structured and given uniformity on the Internet, our brains become looser, less precise, and lose ... something... and stuff.

I was just talking about this with an older friend of mine. There is a huge consolidation of knowledge going on right now, IE: Wikipedia and I'm not sure its totally a good thing. Anytime there is too much information stored in one place there is the potential for manipulation. Wikipedias democratic nature keeps this in check but I still wonder. People don't know how to navigate anymore, we'll just Google map it, or use the GPS built right into our cars. Look at how cell phones have made us all forget phone numbers. The thing that worries me the most about this is that its all fallible. The internet runs on computers which require energy. I dunno, I'm stockpiling rice, potable water and ammunition for when the Internet crashes. Did you see the South Park about this? T'was funny.

I've been having a protracted discussion with a friend of mine about this very subject. He noticed that people older than him don't know how to perform searches, like refining keywords and identifying false leads and such. We traded a few crazy theories that revolved around the idea of the data->info->knowledge->wisdom chain. didn't come to anything, but we both agree that some strange new paradigm is unfolding.
naw, I missed that South Park. I haven't seen a SP in ages, 'cause I don't own a TV. I'll have to Google and bittorrent that episode to find out what I missed... ;)
I have very poor tv reception where I live and I just don't want to pay for cable. I have an awesome TV though. I like my movies and its been worth every penny. I stream most of my tv now, cause torrents are usually really toxic. The big networks all put their stuff online after it airs. The Internet is an amazing thing. It is changing everything. We should wax philosophic on this subject this coming winter, as I plan to take a few ski trips up your way.
Sentences like that give me a headache. Truly. Part of the reason I got a 4.0 this semester was because I've an intimate knowledge of the proper usage of a surprising number of words.
Well, that and my momma's an English teacher. Go figure, eh?
