You know, I don't even read Supernatural fic, but I got sucked into this. And. Yeah. Yeah.

"You're fourteen," he'd spit out, disgust wavering in his voice- and as much as Jo tells herself it was directed at himself, that he can't take her seriously, she doesn't believe it.

OH JO.

INORITE? JO: girl of a million issues.

Thank you for commenting/reading even though you avoid Supernatural fic! It is the fandom I can't let go of. :D

My fear is mostly of terrible, terrible fic, and I love Sam and Dean and Jo so, so, so much that reading shitty fic makes me, like. Physically sad. It's a little unhealthy.

This fic, though, is so deeply unshitty. Oh God, Jo, hanging out with Dad's gun after he's gone. :|

Haha, yeah, what I look for in Supernatural fic is pretty much the same thing I do in Tony/Pepper- fic that acknowledges how totally screwed up they all are. I can't take a lot of schmoop very seriously in this fandom at all, so I understand why you'd be wary. :D

Yeah, poor Jo. So many daddy issues, so little time.

I love this! I miss Jo so much! It's fics like this that make me wish Kripke had actually taken the time to get to know Jo and explore her story more rather than leave her hanging. But it's fanfic like this that makes up for it!

I love the theme with how all Jo wants in life is to be taken seriously and you showed some great examples of that. I loved how the title fits in with how Jo can't connect with other people.

I loved this image here: She'd worn long-sleeved shirts all summer to hide the bruises she'd given herself, learning to handle the recoil.

The ending was great too! It showed her character growth and how she wasn't going to leave like she did with Dean and I loved that Sam was the one to actually listen and take her seriously. It was an interesting contrast to her earlier scene with Dean.

I almost want to see a sequel to this, but I think this is the perfect ending.

Thanks for sharing!

I completely agree- Jo was tragically underused on the show. Everything about the way she kept trying and trying to make it as a grown-up was awesome television. I'm still holding out futile hope for her to guest-star next season.

Thank you very much for the detailed feedback! I'm especially glad you liked the ending with Sam. :D

I like how damaged you write her. It's darkish and compelling in the way it never addresses her issues directly and makes her desire to follow the bros in their silliness coherent. Niiiice.

Thank you very much! :) Yeah, I wish we'd seen more of her on the show.
