9 of the 11 were released on the same day five more (eyes closed) came in. I kept the two littlest from the litter of 11. They've been very happy getting an extra week of formula but are starting to signal their readiness for release. The five little ones all opened their eyes within 2 days and all - even the one with two bad puncture wounds - are thriving and doing well *fingers crossed*
Wow, I don't know how you do it! Kudos to you for all you do for the tiniest, most vulnerable of animals. Is that tiny mouse, or whatever, the smallest of the creatures you get?
Turtles are crossing the street here, too. So worrying.
I swear, baby bunnies are the cutest animals ever created. Ever. I'll hope for the best for the ones who won't formula feed and will take their chances in the wild.
Yes, the little mouse sized creatures are the smallest I get, although the little flying squirrel that came in a couple of days ago, weighing in at all of 17 grams, is pretty tiny. I stuck her (the flier) in with the little bunnies and the still-eyes-closed squirrel where they all jumble together. Won't be more than a couple of days though and I will need to separate them as they grow and get more active. Then the size matters.
