Excelsior Jimmy died, his obit. was in today's Star Tribune: http://www.startribune.com/466/story/1465889.html

I remember in middle school being afraid of Mr. Jimmy. We would see him sitting outside the Excelso-Bakery or see him in Bacon Drug (yes it was still around then) and we thought he was crazy. There were a million stories about him floating ( Read more... )

I saw the news on James Lilek's blog today. Not having grown up in MN, I didn't really get 'scared' of Jimmy. But for the longest time I wondered what the deal was with that old guy that constantly walked through Excelsior.

I doubt we ever exchanged more than a polite greeting, but he certainly lended to the atmosphere of downtown Excelsior from day to day.

I sometimes forget that you didn't move here 'til high school-feels like we're known each other forever.
I called my brother to tell him & we both had this feeling that Excelsior is going to feel like a landmark is missing.
