that's interesting. i've wondering about that too - once i realized that i use the same phrase. i don't think i use it so much anymore, but i think i just picked it up when i became a christian. that's what everyone said!

I don't know about biblical precedence for the phrase "Father God" in prayer, but (and this really is a question, not rhetorical) does every way you address God have to be a phrase from the bible?
I don't know. I think we should be careful about calling it "filler". Sure, people do it for that purpose. And sure, some people don't. Is it really for us to judge another person's intent as they pray?
Prayer's not for others to hear, it's for God. But maybe that's the argument, that people forget that and it's more like a stream of consciousness than a convo with God. What do you think?
