Sometimes when Erma is lying very still and sleeping I'll get nervous and check to see if she's still breathing. I don't know where the paranoia comes from. Sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of the night and wonder if she's still alive.

I wonder if I will be paranoid with the kids.

When people correct my grammar, I will often cry back, "Thanks for making me feel like a FOB!" I only do this with white people, who may feel flustered about being un-PC and think they have insulted my personhood. That makes me laugh. Out loud. At them. I know, I'm cruel. But I only do it with good friends.
