“Snow? Hey, I know you have this thing about temples but it’s frikken cold out here and we need a place to sleep for the night. It’s just for the night okay?”

The brunette nodded to his companion, gazing distrustfully at the stone and metal edifice. Snow did not have a ‘thing’ with temples, he had an active aversion to them. Most had shields and walls of holy power around them that blocked his ability to touch the wind and water. Beyond that, these were places to the gods, and the gods were not favorable to slaves. The priests and people who dedicated their lives to service had no notion of true slavery, of true servitude to an uncaring master.

No, they looked from on high at the people who were not of their self appointed caste and judged them. Especially the semi-heretical Outlanders who built houses to only one goddess, though they worshipped all the gods in their own fashions.

“Not like we can get any more damned in this life time without fucking the Avatar or something. Come on, lets go get warm. If they give you any shit about Hyne just give them that ‘please die’ look. Yeah that one. Princess it doesn’t work on me.”

It was a hard and strict road for true servitude. Too easily one slipped and had to be moved back onto the path. He would never understand why someone would choose to make of themselves a slave. Of course, if the gods were as kind a masters as Seifer was a friend, he would admit there could perhaps be an appeal.
