Sydney illustrators

Mar 02, 2007 03:06

For one of my subjects I have to interview three illustrators and do a presentation on them.

Who should I interview? Any cool professional artists/illustrators around Sydney? (or elsewhere; it just means I'll have to communicate via e-mail)

Platinum Grit is very cool. not least of all because Not Appearing In Platinum Grit Man used to go to comic-con and give out badges. He was insane.

Well, if you like calligraphy try REN: "http://www.jpf.org.au/jartists/y/yano/yanohitoshi.htm", he was at that japanese culture festival I saw you at~

but heres one (of possibly many, lol) directory of australian illustrators:
http://www.illustratorsaustralia.com/

And I guess, if you want to try x.x
try http://www.art-dept.com/illustration/index.html
I love the illustrators from here! Not sure how to get in contact with them though, it seems like you have to go through an agent T_T

and, just from illustration 1, jennifer introduced me to Andrea Dezso (not australian), but I love her sillouette books so it might be worth a try to try to e-mail her

Trudy Cooper is in Sydney, so she's worth approaching! I'd also suggest Jozef Szekeres, who did this year's Mardi Gras art, Chris Wahl, Daniel Cox or Craig Phillips. They're all extremely talented and friendly to boot :D

As for elsewhere, maybe Shaun Tan? Doug Holgate?
