Meh.

I tried to draw stuff again and it turned anime style. Also, I still fail at anatomy. So I gave up and copied another photo.

Good luck getting rid of the anime touch. I started drawing properly 9 years ago by copying the style of my Korean friend, and despite 3 years at art school, my work still has a slight touch of the anime about it. I've kinda resigned myself to that fact. Not to say that my style is bad, or yours for that matter. I like your style, it's nice, the bodies are in proportion, the faces are sweet and expressive, and they look right without being photo-realistic and looking wrong because of a small detail being off in that (photo-realism never looks quite right to me, but then, I'm picky, heh). It's better to get the feel of the character right than to have the features perfectly looking like the actors, I think. You just have to let your style evolve over time IMO. Definitely do things to change it, and make sure it's always changing for the better.

Well, anyway, I said more than I meant to there, and that's my "I'm a complete stranger dispensing with the advice" 2 cents. =) Have a nice day!

Aah thanks for the comment!

I went on your LJ to look for artworks and your stuff is so cool! Though it looks a bit more comic influenced than anime. And yeah, I know what you mean about getting the feel of the character - that's also what I'm struggling with. I'm not too into photorealism either, but mostly because I find it uncreative. I like art to be an interpretation of the subject, which is why I would never consider a copy of a photograph my own art - it's essentially taking someone else's (the photographer's) creation.

When I first tried to look for SPN art on the net I couldn't find much besides icons and manips. Guess I didn't look hard enough. I'm so happy there's more people drawing it~!
