I will never understand why the fics I would consider my best and most interesting get about 10% of the attention that a silly fluff drabble will. What is it that puts people off? Angst? Unpopular pairings? I'd honestly like to know, it's kind of disappointing because sometimes I feel like the clichéd stuff gets all the praise, but oh well. I can ( Read more... )

Oh, girl, that first complaint? Yeah, I feel the SAME WAY. It kills me that a random one-shot that I throw together in a couple of hours will get dozens of comments while something I work my ass off over will barely even get noticed. Usually it's because the throw-away fic is twins or porn and the serious fic is gen or has no porn in it. Regardless of the reason, it's incredibly depressing, so I feel your pain, believe me.

As for Fluff Friday prompt, I'd love to see your ten random facts about Gustav. ^__^

Yeah, I know, porn gets all the attention. It's both amusing and frustrating *g*

I will ponder the ten random facts today :) I'd love to write that for you.

It is frustrating. If it wasn't for the fact that I write for myself, I'd have quit writing by now.

You know I love your stories, no matter what type they are. The only ones I haven't read are the Tom/Chantelle ones; still waiting for the right mood to read those (read: het mood).

Personally, I love your stories that have angst and drama galore. I usually pick those over fluff, but there are times, i think when it's the fluff that everyone needs to pick us up after a hard day ^_^

Keep writing ^_^

I completely understand that het is not everyone's cup of tea, and especially Tom/Chantelle. Those fics are mostly self-indulgent anyway because I enjoy writing them, but sometimes I put a lot of effort into a character piece and that's just not as popular as fluff or porn or whatever, I suppose.

But thank you, I didn't mean that I don't value the wonderful comments I do get :) You're such a wonderful loyal reader. ♥

Yeah, that may be true. I wish people wouldn't feel that way though - longer comments aren't required, just a bonus!

Ah, the joys and pains of writing. ;)

The whole comments thing - not an indication of fic quality at all in my experience. I think it has to do with making people happy. If your fic happens to hit the spot they are more likely to comment and happy or porny fics do that far more easily than angsty/plotty ones. If people are in a boyant mood they tend to comment more. Also, sometimes, I don't think people know quite what to say about a deeper piece, where as fluff it easy to squee over.

Can I vote prompt number 3 please :)

Yes, that's true. Thank you, that makes me feel better. It's still frustrating though, as lirren said, how the easy pieces get all the praise. But then again, it makes me treasure the insightful comments all the more :)

#3? Gustav is popular around here, yay! :D

Yep, can be very frustrating, unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it. It does make the longer feedback worth the wait though ::g::

Gusti was so adorable in this weeks THTV that he deserves the attention :)

*snickers* I don't agree with my audience's taste either. Haha.

I definitely don't. My most reviewed fic is Twilight smut, after all ;) Oh well, all my stories are my babies, so I guess I'm just glad people are reading at all.
