Well, it's not officially called 'marriage' rather than 'partnership' because of some legal definition problem, but it's largely the same thing :)

I really enjoyed seeing people interviewed on the news about this yesterday. The reporter did try to put an emphasis on the novelty of this being a gay vice chancellor getting married, but people were more like "Congratulations, hope they're happy *shrug*" like it wasn't a big deal at all, and I think that's how it should be. If it was a straight politician getting married, we'd get TV coverage and then people would shrug and move on too. I like that it's the same here :)
