Waste of time to post replies to CNN. Their writers often make words up, such as "incidences" when they mean "incidents."

But it was good practice to write what I felt was a good rebuttal here.

I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Though I'm not checked out on NVGs; the learning curve might be a problem.
This isn't essential as such, but it might help make a defensible position more so:

Learning curve, schmerning curve.

Night Vision Goggles are as simple to use as a flashlight. Just know where the [on] switch is and follow 3 simple rules:

• Don't use them in brightly lit areas.
• Don't get them wet.
• Don't feed them after midnight.

You only have to worry about a learning curve when you start dealing with things like the AN/TAS-5 Night Tracker for the Dragon Missile System.

Idunno about the .22 Gatling Gun. It's crank operated, so your gunner has to both crank and aim. Kinda tough to do. I prefer a single rifle. Remember, while .22 ammo will be plentiful to start, firing 4 inaccurate rounds per crank is never going to be as effective as one well-aimed shot.

And the deterrent facto of hails of lead is lost when dealing with zombies...

Of course, the *is* a realmy my first rifle was a bolt action .22 and my first handgun after my permit was a .22 revolver, and I wasn't thinking zombies then ;-)

Yeah, I would think jeans with a leather jacket would be best.

If one needs transportation, able to find gas too, something like a Subaru WRX?

Aka a vehicle designed around rally racing, and dirt/tarmac road conditions?

One that also has space for a crowbar, weapons, food, water, blankets, tents, ammo, rifles, bow and arrows (hey, practice some if ya can, and need to hunt deer without wasting ammo.)

You might say moving around is bad, but what if you run out of food and water with a dead/dying wildlife population?

The crowbar is something I missed, but then again it's more of the awesome that is Alton Brown (him and his easy turkey prep hacking.) All I can conjure up now is bonking head crab zombies in Half Life with one.

Alton hates "unitaskers," which is why I invoked his name. He's never, that I am aware of, made any actual statements regarding crowbars as a necessary tool for the Zombie Apocalypse. But given that the only "unitasker" allowed in his kitchen is the fire extinguisher, one can easily see this as a statement he will make when Good Eats gets bitten on the ankle and returns from beyond the grave ( ... )

Not sure how zombies are on stairs either, so unless you're on a floor with one already there (or your buddy was infected without you knowing) you might be OK on an upper floor with adequate provisions.

Funny how all these scenarios ae being war-gamed now, huh?

Depends on the flavor of Zombie.

You've got shamblers, runners, leapers. Everything from the thinking, ambushing & trap setting flavor in I am Legend, to the doorknob users of The Walking Dead, to the ones who died in their cars and can't undo a seatbelt of World War Z (book, not movie).

I believe the phrase was misheard. It's actually the geek who will inherit the Earth.
