It's Oxonmoot this weekend and due to a combination of stinginess and the intended disposal of my remaining days of annual leave for 2012, I am coming straight from work on Friday evening and staying with Apples in Headington on Friday night, and checking into college on Saturday morning.
I hope to reach Oxford by 7 if all goes well, but that could well slip. I was thinking of finding someplace for dinner in east Oxford shortly after I get there before heading over to LMH, rather than heading to north Oxford and making arrangements there. Possibly the Polish restaurant if that is still open, but more current local knowledge would be listened to. Would anyone be up for that?
On Saturday
malaheed will be coming up for the day. I would like to book a restaurant for birthday dinner rather than mill around then find nowhere has a table - probably shortly after 6pm and ideally near to college rather than tromping all over Oxford.
the_marquis has suggested Gee's Brasserie, which is geographically the best option by far though the online menu is trying a bit too hard and yet not hard enough to justify the prices. Failing that, anything on the way to Gloucester Green to make things easier for
malaheed,
na_lon and
na_quis who I hope will also have time to join us. Again, suggestions welcome, and also an idea of numbers who might like to come along would be good so I can make a booking.
I had considered booking a non-quiet room with a mind to hosting a birthday room party, but I chickened out of it, because of going to Oxford straight from work, and then having to go home after Enyalië to unpack and pack again for flying on Monday: I am not going to be up to commuting to work shlepping booze and nibbles on top of weekend gear, I don't want to spend Oxonmoot arranging booze and nibbles instead of Oxonmooting, and I don't want to spend Sunday in a daze of hangover and fatigue when I can't just go home and flop at the end of it.
