TV thoughts and ficcish things

Why do TV creators who have broken my heart and then stomped around on it not impressed me have to do things like come up with new shows and then cast Stockard Channing in them???? How can I watch further work of Ron D. Moore???? How can I not watch Stockard Channing???? And it's a supernatural cop show. Also to star Jamie Bamber, apparently, which ( Read more... )

RE: the new show - am slightly intrigued by the thought of possibly seeing Bamber on an American screen again. (Although if this means I'll no longer be able to watch him in L&O:UK I shall be very sad indeed.) But seeing as how I never got into BSG, I have a feeling this show may not be for me. What strikes me as most interesting, however, is that a show with a sci-fi spin is actually getting potential air time on NBC. (Although, since SyFy seems more interested in wrestling than sci-fi, I suppose such shows have to find an outlet elsewhere.)

As for Fringe, sometimes I can't decide if it's going to make me cry or drive me stark raving mad. There have definitely been scenes that result misty-eyed sniffling. There have also been scenes that have me yelling aloud at my television. ;) But I've grown to adore Peter, even for his faults.

Gossip in the comments of the link announcing his casting indicates that Bamber's character will be written out of L&O:UK (though I don't know if that's regardless, or only if this new show gets picked up). The casting carousel would put it in fine L&O tradition, I guess.

I think every major network wants the next Lost, so there's definitely a market for sci-fi-ish shows, though I think most of them have been on ABC (home of Lost) or FOX, which does have a history of these things. But I guess NBC is trying to get into the game?

I suspect that this show--both because of premise and network--will not be as dark as BSG, so maybe that will make it work better for you? But I'm super gun-shy about Ron Moore after the giant implosion of fail that was the end of BSG, so I'm not sure that even Stockard Channing and Jamie Bamber will get me on board for this one. We'll see, I guess.

So far, I'm only about 10 eps into the first season of Fringe, so I don't have strong opinions about it yet. But as I said above, my main problem with Peter is ( ... )

Boo all around, I say. :(

The problem with having others vet, of course, is that it might be awesome for two seasons, then get a little wobbly but still with promise, before succumbing to a catastrophic tailspin--but we might have all jumped on board back during the glory days. *sigh*

Why, though, must Joshua Jackson be so annoying???
Dude, I do not know. I do not know. I am forging through season 2 and he's not as annoying in season 2. At least not to me. But I couldn't stand him in season 1 and only tolerate him now. I'm so glad it's not just me!

I'll keep mum on anything else. I should be done with season 2 by tomorrow night.

But Castle remains awesome, so all is well with the world.

Heh! That's really the only fannish constant in my world, at the moment.
