Aww, this is nice. I wrote about it. Selena wrote and now you! Maybe Gabolange will write too and well, I almost feel I'm in an active fandom again! Yay! I need bright spots this week. I moved last week and that was not so nice. So thank the gods for this show. And when it ends Underground will start and swallow me up. :-)
I'm not skeptical of the greater plot arcs because they usually resolve them in a way that works for me. Maybe not Sister Ursula. I dunno. It didn't seem enough, but her problems run deep and I'm not sure we had enough time to really delve in to what's up with her. Phyllis had a point about her fitness. When lives are in the balance those folks can't stick around. Like that doctor that told a woman to yank on her daughter's placenta over the phone. Sister Ursula wasn't that bad, but I was beginning to worry about her effect on Sister Mary Cynthia and Barbara. Patsy left. Ugh, moving is the worst! Good luck with that. And oh, Underground! I keep meaning to watch that and then forgetting when it's an opportune moment!
My issue with Sister Ursula is less about her as a person and more about why was this character and the plot ripples she created even deemed the thing to do in the first place. It just felt like it was a plot thread created to cause artificial conflict, which now appears to be resolved, with no effect, really, except perhaps advancing whatever Cynthia's plot is going to be (but surely they could have managed that in some other way, as well). I feel like there are so many stories to tell in not a great deal of time, so I get a little annoyed when that time doesn't seem to be used economically. Tell good stories that advance interesting plots and do meaningful things with the characters we love. Don't drop this new person in for three episodes to stir the pot and then just hit the reset button.
A near miss will be enough to illustrate the loss of a pregnancy.I disagree, but that doesn't
